What is Casino War?

One of the easiest games to learn you can play in a casino online, Casino War is a favourite of the younger generation of players. It’s easy to understood and based on the proprietary game of War, but this time in a more casino-like setting. The game is distributed by Shuffle Master and can be played for real money or for fun here in NetBet casino.

Why is it one of the most underappreciated games in online casinos? Well, its rules are pretty simple, but that doesn’t mean it’s not competitive. On the contrary, it requires a lot of strategy and focus since you will be going to war. A card game war, but a war indeed.

How to Play Casino War?

Everything in this game revolves around the concept of going to war against the other player. It is played with six standard decks of cards (52 each). The hand rankings are the same as in poker, so aces are the highest possible card you can get.

The rules can’t be easier to understand. After the betting round, the dealer will deal one card to himself and the player. The goal is simple – whoever has the better hand wins the round. Obviously, a tie is possible, and that’s where the war comes in. In case of a tie, you’re left with one of two options:

  • Going to war, which means doubling your stake
  • Surrendering, which means you lose half of your bet

When you choose to go to war, the dealer will burn three cards before dealing an extra card each. If the player has a higher card, they win the original stake amount. If the dealer’s card is better, the player loses the full doubled bet. If the card rank is equal, the player wins the doubled wager.

There’s also a side bet which pays 10:1 if you bet on a tie. Ties don’t happen often, obviously, so this is a pretty risky bet to make.

Casino War Tips

  • While the rules are pretty simple, you’d benefit from playing the game for fun first before you play for real money.
  • It would be great to refresh your poker hands memory since the cards rank the same as in that game. If you don’t know the ranks of poker cards, you should learn them.
  • Don’t take the Tie side bet – it has a high house edge so despite the pay-out, it’s not worth it.
